Emma and Lee became my clients after we’d met at Val Slater wedding fayre in Cardiff Village hotel couple of weeks ago. Their wedding day is approaching at a speedy pace so we were under the proper time pressure to have this shoot done. After sending them tonnes of inspirational materials together we decided on the beach theme with the balloon colour splash (to break the greyness of the pebble beach up a bit). We were extremely lucky with the weather, I have to admit it was pretty spectacular for mid March afternoon! The tide was against us but in the end it all worked out really well. I’ve known Penarth Pier from previous shoots but each time I’m photographing on the same location I try to approach the task differently coming up with new angles, perspectives and frames. I believe creativity is the key to beautiful results in every field of art, I’m dreading the moment when I’d start doing things ‘by the book’ and get myself into some form of routine! I can’t believe this could ever happen to my easy-to-get-bored-constantly-in-search-for-new-ideas type of brain!
I had a blast that Sunday afternoon, partly down to my models being so easy to work with, very patient and willing to try anything – even lying on pretty uncomfy pebbles! At the end of the shoot they must have been frozen and I hope it all didn’t end with them getting some pre wedding cold!..
I believe the below photographs were worth all the efforts of the day. They make fine addition to my engagement portfolio and I hope the couple does like them too! (I’m only just about to let them know about the set being ready… Enjoy.
