Hello random readers!![]()
It’s not often that I put together a post with no photographs in but I feel like I need to share couple of self centred thoughts with you.![]()
In my wildest dreams I didn’t expect to be turning into a workaholic but I guess I wasn’t fully aware of what was coming my way.
2011 is a completely new experience for me, something I’ve never been through before with the proper business boost resulting in 35 weddings booked throughout the year all together, 95% of them happening between April and October. I have to admit it’s showing to be very difficult to juggle with all the tasks under such intensity of photography and editing work.
It may not seem like but photoTOM is a one person company, with second photographer occasionally joining to capture the big day. I do everything myself – from the initial enquiry response to delivery of the album. The whole wedding photography service is very personal, there is no one else to blame if something goes wrong (that’s why nothing ever goes wrong!
) therefore I NEVER compromise on quality, spend as much time as needed on every assignment and take care of everything myself. What I’m trying to say here is that it’s myself only doing all the correspondence, meetings, research, photographing weddings and engagements, visiting places, editing all the photographs (with most of you not realising how TIME CONSUMING this process is!), contacting suppliers, arranging products, designing and finally making the albums. This is so much for just one brain that I can only survive it with most of you being patient and understanding.
I hope you’re not thinking ’why should we give a damn, business is business, you have what you wanted stop moaning here’. Those who met me know for fact that I am miles from the corporate ‘business model’ person and I doubt I will ever turn into one. I treat people with an open heart in the first place, thinking of them as ‘clients’ – later. I believe in the ‘human element’ working both ways, maybe it’s naive but this attitude hasn’t let me down yet. The current year I’m seeing as a massive test, already admitting it’s brought me too much work and setting a strict plan for 2012 (at the moment I have 22 weddings booked for 2012 and the aim is not to allow many more in order to keep me sane!
)
Summarising…
Good things are worth waiting for. Don’t get upset with me if I’ve given you the date idea and the images/albums are not ready by it. They will be ready eventually, finished to the highest standards (my standards!). It’s a promise and I simply can’t afford not keeping it.
I’m back to photoshop for another couple of hours, hope you’re having a relaxing evening.![]()

Been enjoying going through your fabulous images – every shoot is just amazing. Loved this post too, because I the work involved with shooting, editing and producing fantastic wedding photography isn’t truly understood. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your inspirational work
