I photographed beautiful wedding of Gemma and Nathan last Saturday. I cried my eyes out and laughed wholeheartedly, it was a truly fabulous day filled with emotions and full of LOVE.
Gemma was getting ready at her home together with her Bridesmaid Jodie, mum, nan and granddad, who was later giving her away. The dress was massive, elegant and quirky at the same time. Birdcage vail and chunky, colourful necklace completed Gemma’s bridal look beautifully. Whilst I was with the girls capturing the female element Raf photographed the boys getting ready at the groom brother’s house from where they all walked to the church.
The couple chose to get married in their local St Hilda’s Church – beautiful place, shame there was no permission for any photographs during the wedding service whatsoever (these I included below were stubbornly taken by us regardless!). After the ceremony wedding guests drove to Newbridge on Usk former pub, 18 months ago made into part of Celtic Manor collection. I have to say I was impressed with the visual side of this small scale wedding venue as well as the quality of service the Celtic Manor team provided.
Fabulous summer weather made the day absolutely perfect for the guests who mostly enjoyed themselves outside by the river, and I have to say it was a huge help to create the very much ‘our style’ full of light photographs. It was funny to discover that the van the couple hired for their big day was the same one we photographed before at Emma and Lee wedding in Cardiff Castle! I recognised the car by the air freshener in the form of a wedding heart! Typical woman huh?The car hire company are called Love Dub Weddings, here’s their website in case you ever needed one! http://www.lovedubweddings.co.uk
I generally loved the atmosphere of Gem and Nathan wedding day. The groom has the most contagious laughter and just absolutely best ever sense of humour. He made everyone, including me, swap from laughter to tears throughout his speech; you know how powerful it is when someone really MEANS what they’re saying (it’s like listening to Adele – you can’t help but FEEL the personal, emotional input!).
Gemma is just stunningly beautiful – appearance and character wise – my personal thoughts supported by what’s been pointed out in the speeches, and what the wedding guests told me directly. I simply think they’re both most lucky to have found each other.
Gosh I’ve gone all personal in this post – sorry about that! It was just such personal wedding day! I came back home realising I wasn’t really shattered although the day was intense as usual. Perhaps it was down to feeling like photographing a couple of friends; experiencing their total trust and being strangely chilled as a result?.. I don’t know.
Anyway – have a look at the images.
